About « The High Life  »

The debates in society are too often characterized by polarization. Distrust, xenophobia, and clear social disparities are the themes of «  The High Life » in my "iGiraf" cartoons. In this universe , it is the blue-spotted giraffes that have the keys to power and who decide the rules. With a bit of sharp humor, the art of satirical cartoons, can with a few lines, say more than a thousand words.

The giraffe series seeks to bring to light, topics that make us uncomfortable and that arouse prejudice. These delusions are often due to a lack of knowledge.

Both as a visual artist and as a filmmaker, I am concerned with the little man's struggle against big power, freedom of speech; that we only have one planet and that our common future is at stake. Environment and sustainability. Center vs the periphery. Discrimination is everywhere whether it is due to, age or gender, ethnicity or cultural/sexual orientation. The issues are universal. Double moral standards are everywhere. Many want to help and show sympathy for the less fortunate, but few are willing to share or lose their own privileges. One might call it a solidarity which is arbitrary.

In “The High Life”, the Blue Giraffes strive to be on the top. What ever the cost.
